About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Software Engineer remote to join our innovative Solutions Engineering team at Arizona State University. What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and support high-quality technology services that enhance the educational experience.
- Lead the development and implementation of technical solutions, ensuring they meet defined requirements and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams about engineering topics such as detailed design and APIs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate their requirements into technical specifications.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies to improve system performance and scalability.
- Guide documentation and communication of engineering processes to team members.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and student developers, fostering a culture of excellence.
- Assess potential risks in implemented solutions and propose effective mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Five years of experience in software development, particularly in EdTech.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as React, Node.js, PHP, and JavaScript.
- Experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS, and serverless architectures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software development lifecycle principles.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) and GraphQL.
- Familiarity with middleware and API development.
- Knowledge of federated authentication and authorization models.
