Senior Software Engineer - Discovery (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Discovery (Remote) to join our innovative team at Flink. In this role, you will define and drive the technical vision for your engineering team, translating complex business goals into a concrete technical roadmap. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will architect and build high-throughput, low-latency backend services using GoLang and Kotlin, deployed on Kubernetes. This position offers you the opportunity to work remotely while leading a team of talented engineers.

What You'll Do

• Define and drive the 6-12 month technical vision and strategy for your engineering team.
• Design, develop, and operate backend services using GoLang and Kotlin (Spring).
• Act as a technical leader and mentor for other engineers while influencing the wider engineering organization.
• Tackle challenging problems in partnership with senior peers and product managers.
• Lead initiatives that span multiple engineering teams, ensuring seamless execution.
• Champion a culture of experimentation through proofs of concept and low-cost experiments.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and stakeholders to shape product decisions.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in backend software engineering with a proven track record.
• Deep proficiency in GoLang and/or Kotlin, preferably with the Spring framework.
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD practices, specifically ArgoCD.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts.
• Experience with observability stacks and a data-driven approach to system health.
• AI-assisted development experience is a significant plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with search systems, distributed computing, or ad-serving platforms.
• Familiarity with coding agents like GitHub Copilot or similar tools.
