Senior Software Engineer - Backend & Infrastructure (Remote)

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Backend & Infrastructure (Remote) to join our innovative team at Contentful. As a Senior Software Engineer focused on the content storage infrastructure domain, you will be responsible for innovating and maintaining Contentful’s underlying storage infrastructure and adjacent services. This Senior Software Engineer role offers you the opportunity to work on the very foundation of Contentful that our teams build on top of, while directly impacting our customers’ experience with scalability and performance features.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop our content storage infrastructure, foundational to the billions of requests we serve today.
• Utilize AWS services, Terraform, and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices to enhance our systems.
• Collaborate closely with teams in the content storage and delivery domains to ensure seamless integration.
• Develop and maintain services written in Typescript and Go, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Anticipate operational risks, identifying bottlenecks or failure points before they cause problems.

Requirements

• Proven experience in software development and systems engineering, particularly in backend systems.
• Strong understanding of relational database engines, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Thorough AWS knowledge across core services: RDS, S3, Lambda, SNS/SQS.
• Expertise in Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Kafka is a plus.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Typescript, Go).
• Experience with observability stacks and tools like Splunk and DataDog.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
