Senior Software Engineer - AI Acceleration Platform

At Coinbase, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Platform - AI Acceleration) to join our team and help us build the future of the global financial system. This Senior Software Engineer remote position is an exciting opportunity to drive AI adoption across Coinbase by working within our AI Growth Pods. You will partner with engineering and non-engineering functions to identify, prototype, and scale high-impact AI automation solutions.

What You'll Do

• Partner with teams across the organization to understand workflows, identify pain points, and uncover high-leverage opportunities for AI automation and efficiency gains.
• Translate complex business challenges into actionable AI use cases.
• Apply advanced GenAI techniques, including large language models (LLMs) and Agentic AI, to design, build, and iterate on functional prototypes that address business needs.
• Write high-quality, well-tested code in Python and Golang to support these solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve prototypes into scalable, secure, production-grade AI solutions.
• Provide guidance on AI capabilities, responsible AI usage, and prompt engineering best practices.
• Mentor team members on design principles, coding standards, and AI productivity tools adoption.
• Pilot new AI solutions with functional teams, gather feedback, iterate on prototypes, and support adoption to ensure demonstrable value.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 6 months focused on applied AI, Generative AI, or intelligent automation.
• Strong expertise in designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services.
• Proven ability to write high-quality, well-tested code that meets customer needs.
• Understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools and platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple parallel initiatives and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of data privacy, security, and ethical considerations related to AI.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience building or implementing AI agents or advanced workflow automation solutions.
• Prior experience building production ML/AI systems.
• Prior crypto or fintech domain experience.
