PHP Developer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We're looking for a talented and detail-oriented PHP Developer remote to join our growing engineering team in Amsterdam, Netherlands. In this role, you'll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain robust web applications that drive our business forward. What You'll Do

• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality PHP applications using modern frameworks and best practices.
• Design and implement efficient database solutions using MySQL and other relational databases.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs that integrate seamlessly with front-end applications.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow developers to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Optimize application performance and troubleshoot issues using analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Participate in agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning and retrospectives.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous innovation.
• Contribute to the full development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance.
• Support team members and mentor junior developers in a collaborative, inclusive atmosphere.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience developing web applications using PHP.
• Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and SQL query optimization.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end integration.
• Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Nice to Have

• Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker).
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks and test-driven development.
• Background in e-commerce platforms or Content Management Systems (CMS).
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Experience working in EU-based teams or with international stakeholders.
