Senior Program Officer - Content Enablement for Wikimedia

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Program Officer, Content Enablement to join Wikimedia Foundation's mission to enhance Wikipedia's reach through structured volunteering opportunities. This Senior Program Officer remote position will allow you to attract new contributors by collaborating with educational institutions and youth programs.

What You'll Do

• Secure new partnerships with organizations to facilitate structured volunteering programs.
• Support Wikimedia communities in offering training and content challenges through structured volunteering.
• Develop a deep understanding of Wikipedia editing practices and policies to effectively communicate with partners.
• Utilize readership data and community insights to identify knowledge gaps that align with volunteering organizations' interests.
• Communicate the needs of volunteering programs to Product Managers involved in the Contributor Experience strategy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in education, youth, or volunteer management programs.
• Strong facilitation skills with the ability to build community trust and alignment.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Proactive approach to working across departments in a distributed, cross-cultural environment.
• Able to connect with partners across various time zones (UTC+2 to UTC-5) and make 3 international trips annually.

Nice to Have

• Passion for open access to knowledge and experience contributing to Wikipedia.
• Fluency in a language other than English.
