Senior Network Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in a remote capacity. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will lead the design, security management, and support of critical networks across various sectors including satellite, maritime, and defense. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and performance of mission-critical networks, making it an exciting opportunity for professionals looking to make an impact.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, test, and commission internal and customer networks.
• Act as the final escalation point for complex network issues.
• Maintain high-security environments and ensure network integrity.
• Analyze routing, firewall, and performance logs; recommend improvements.
• Create and maintain documentation, schematics, and support guides.
• Collaborate with IT, Engineering, Hub, and MoD teams.
• Provide excellent support to internal and occasional external customers.
• Join the weekend/out-of-hours support rota.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on network engineering experience.
• Relevant certifications such as FCSS/FCP, CCNA, CCNP or equivalent knowledge.
• Strong customer-facing skills and a right-first-time mindset.
• Must hold, or have the ability to easily achieve DV Security Clearance.
• Proactive, organized, and calm under pressure.
• Background in satellite or maritime communications is desirable.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Fortinet FortiGate (FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).
• Knowledge of Cisco Routers (29xx, 83xx, 4xxx, IOS-XE) & Cisco Switches (29xx, 93xx).
• Familiarity with MPLS, 802.1x, Multicast, Linux, Docker, and Python.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in long-latency networks.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
