Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA (AWS) - Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA (AWS) remote to join our dynamic team at Caseware. As a leader in the FinTech industry, we have been innovating in audit and accounting software for over 30 years, serving more than 500,000 users worldwide. In this role, you will manage, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases hosted on AWS infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.

What You'll Do

• Install, configure, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server instances on AWS (EC2, RDS, RDS Custom).
• Perform proactive performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
• Manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Implement high availability solutions such as Always On Availability Groups and replication.
• Lead migration efforts from on-premises SQL environments to AWS RDS.
• Deploy and manage SQL databases using AWS services like RDS, Aurora, and EC2.
• Utilize AWS tools like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and IAM for monitoring and security.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK with TypeScript for database provisioning.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server administration with at least 10 years of experience, including 3 years with AWS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as RDS, EC2, IAM, and VPC.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, specifically AWS CDK with TypeScript.
• Knowledge of networking concepts and AWS security best practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate certification.
• Exposure to observability tools like New Relic, CloudWatch, or Datadog.
• Familiarity with cost optimization strategies in AWS.
