Senior Linux System Administrator - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator to join our team at HX5, LLC. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. As a Senior Linux System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our Linux-based systems.

What You'll Do

  • Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain, and troubleshoot both virtual and physical servers/systems.
  • Ensure system changes are completed according to developer documentation and configuration management practices.
  • Make recommendations to plan, develop, and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements.
  • Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems and trends.
  • Provide timely updates to team leads, managers, and stakeholders on the status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Install, configure, and manage RHEL and other Linux-based systems.
  • Assist integration leads and managers in problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation.
  • Advise team members and leadership on technical recommendations regarding system development issues and improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of general work experience, with at least 5 years of directly related experience in IT systems.
  • Experience with Multi-Factor Authentication methodology.
  • Proficiency in building, configuring, and deploying servers/systems in a virtualized environment.
  • Administration experience on RHEL 8/9 using Command Line Interface.
  • Current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Ansible automation.
  • Knowledge of NetApp storage devices.
  • Experience with security patching and software management using RHEL Satellite.
  • Network troubleshooting experience.
  • Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline.
