Senior Kubernetes Engineer - Remote Position
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Kubernetes Engineer to join our team at Zelis Healthcare. This remote position is crucial for our cloud modernization efforts. You will be responsible for designing, building, and operating our Kubernetes platform, ensuring it meets the highest standards of security, reliability, and performance.
What You'll Do
- Architect and operationalize a Kubernetes platform on AWS, supporting multi-account and multi-region deployments.
- Define platform capabilities including compute autoscaling, pod networking, and load balancing.
- Lead the development of the platform roadmap and ensure cross-functional alignment with architecture, security, and product engineering.
- Manage the lifecycle of worker nodes, including patching and performance tuning.
- Implement resource quotas and tagging strategies to support chargeback models.
- Drive standardization in tooling, automation, and observability across Kubernetes clusters.
- Develop templates and automation to empower developers on the Kubernetes platform.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and product teams to align platform capabilities with business outcomes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in cloud-native infrastructure with deep expertise in Kubernetes.
- Proven track record of designing and operating production-grade Kubernetes platforms in AWS environments.
- Strong proficiency in infrastructure-as-code using CDK with Python.
- Experience implementing security controls and compliance frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows and container security.
- Exposure to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps.
- Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or finance.
