Senior iOS Engineer - Remote Opportunity at Tandem

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join our dynamic team at Tandem, a leading global language learning community. This Senior iOS Engineer remote position offers you the chance to work on an innovative product that connects over 30 million members from more than 200 countries. As a key member of our agile, cross-functional team, you will help architect, develop, and maintain the Tandem iOS app, ensuring that we deliver high-quality features that our users love.

What You'll Do

• Mature and modernize our existing iOS codebase to enhance performance and reliability.
• Build and ship new product features that leverage the latest iOS platform capabilities.
• Drive engineering excellence by shaping technical decisions and best practices.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to create seamless user experiences.
• Lead technical discussions and provide constructive feedback as the iOS expert in the room.

Requirements

• 5+ years of iOS development experience with Swift (and ideally Objective-C).
• Strong knowledge of the iOS ecosystem, including UIKit and SwiftUI.
• Experience with reactive programming and building scalable, maintainable solutions using Clean Architecture and design patterns.
• Proven track record of working on production apps with over 500k users.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and a passion for improving engineering practices.

Nice to Have

• Experience building real-time chat and media services.
• Familiarity with Kotlin Multiplatform.
• Experience implementing and optimizing iOS accessibility features.
