Senior HashiCorp Vault Engineer - Remote Role

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior HashiCorp Vault Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will execute the Vault vision at the enterprise level, solving complex Vault issues and implementing solutions for ongoing projects. As a Senior HashiCorp Vault Engineer, you will upgrade, scale, and transform Vault from open-source to enterprise-level deployments, ensuring the highest standards of security and compliance.

What You'll Do

• Execute the Vault vision at the enterprise level, focusing on complex L3 engineering tasks.
• Implement solutions for ongoing projects, ensuring the seamless operation of Vault infrastructure.
• Upgrade and scale Vault from open-source to enterprise-level deployments.
• Configure and maintain enterprise authentication methods, including Kubernetes Auth and AppRole.
• Provide backend support to application teams, ensuring secure and seamless access.
• Identify and fix issues within the Vault infrastructure, implementing effective solutions.
• Integrate Vault with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, as well as Kubernetes.
• Design and enforce security policies at scale, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with HashiCorp Vault engines, including KV, Transit, and Transform.
• Strong understanding of secrets lifecycle management, policy enforcement, and enterprise-grade configuration.
• Experience with high-security environments and compliance standards (e.g., PCI, encryption, tokenization).
• Proficiency in Terraform and Ansible for automation of Vault resources and policy management.
• Experience working in large organizations and transforming open-source Vault environments to enterprise-grade deployments.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to take ownership of projects.
• Excellent collaboration skills, able to work with multiple teams including Kubernetes and DevOps.
• Ability to operate independently with minimal guidance.

Nice to Have

• Experience with disaster recovery and multi-region support.
• Familiarity with documentation, runbooks, and compliance reporting.
