Senior Data Scientist - AI & Machine Learning Focus

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team at Vanguard. This Senior Data Scientist remote position will allow you to leverage your expertise in data science and analytics to drive impactful business decisions. You will be responsible for developing complex queries and performing extensive programming to access, transform, and prepare data for statistical modeling.

What You'll Do

• Lead and execute deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision-making.
• Mentor and develop junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
• Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors, documenting data assumptions and filling data gaps.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to understand business processes and develop hypotheses for analysis.
• Guide test design, research design, and model validation, ensuring robust analytical approaches.
• Provide statistical consultation services and serve as the analytics expert on cross-functional teams for large strategic initiatives.
• Prepare and deliver insightful presentations and action recommendations to business leaders.
• Apply modern and emerging data science techniques to solve business problems across various functions such as marketing, economics, and operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in data science, predictive analytics, or advanced statistical modeling roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or Computer Science, or a Master’s degree in a related quantitative field.
• Expertise in programming with Python, R, or SQL, and hands-on experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow).
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, data wrangling, and statistical techniques.
• Experience in big data environments (Spark/Hadoop) and familiarity with visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Knowledge of advanced machine learning algorithms and techniques.
• Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks.
