About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Microsoft Azure to join our growing data team in Munich. This Senior Data Engineer remote position offers the opportunity to lead the design, development, and optimization of cloud-based data solutions that support critical business decisions across the organization. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure our data infrastructure is scalable, secure, and future-proof.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on Azure.
  • Develop and manage Azure Data services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL.
  • Optimize data storage and processing architecture for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and implement robust solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, data governance, and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Mentor junior data engineers and participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud platform, especially in data-related services.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Python, and Spark.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and real-time data processing.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep), and DevOps practices in Azure.
  • Fluent in English; German is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or similar certification.
  • Experience with data privacy and compliance standards (GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Familiarity with tools like dbt, Power BI, or Kafka.
  • Agile development experience (Scrum, Kanban).
