Senior Data Engineer - Graph Analytics for Blockchain Intelligence

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Graph Analytics team at TRM Labs. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to build scalable graph systems that analyze large networks of cryptocurrency transactions. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and investigators to design mission-critical graph algorithms that analyze flows of funds.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement graph algorithms that analyze large cryptocurrency transaction networks at multi-blockchain scale.
• Research new graph-native technology to evaluate benefits to data science and data engineering teams at TRM.
• Work with a highly cross-functional team to identify key user stories and requirements for new graph algorithms and features.
• Understand and refine TRM’s risk models, analyzing large networks of cryptocurrency transactions to assign risk scores to addresses.
• Communicate complex implementation details to a variety of audiences, including investigators and customer success stakeholders.
• Integrate diverse data inputs, from raw blockchain data to complex model outputs.

Requirements

• Academic background in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Physics.
• Strong knowledge of algorithm design and data structures.
• Experience optimizing large-scale distributed data processing systems such as Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, or Dask.
• Proficient in Python and SQL programming.
• Excellent communication skills, able to tailor explanations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated with the ability to propose and validate solutions with minimal guidance.
• Knowledgeable of basic graph theory concepts.

• Experience converting academic research into products.
• Familiarity with distributed graph databases.
