Senior Data Engineer - Cloud Solutions for Automotive

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer to join our team remotely at Dabster. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of data engineering within the automotive sector, working with cutting-edge cloud technologies. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and implement robust data solutions that drive analytics and innovation.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement production-grade data solutions tailored to the automotive domain.
• Enhance and maintain the existing enterprise data lake and contribute to future AWS data warehouse architecture.
• Build and operate batch and streaming data pipelines on AWS.
• Review, optimize, and monitor ETL processes with a strong focus on data quality and consistency.
• Translate business requirements into efficient relational and dimensional data models.
• Partner closely with data scientists to deliver scalable, end-to-end analytics solutions.
• Apply software engineering best practices across development, testing, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent experience.
• Strong programming expertise in Python with a solid understanding of software architecture.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience delivering data engineering solutions in an AWS environment.
• Strong experience with Apache Spark (batch & streaming), AWS Glue, Kinesis (Streams & Firehose), Athena, Lambda, and RDS.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with dimensional data modeling for data warehouses.
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, Docker; exposure to Apache Iceberg, Terraform, or Django is a plus.
• Strong understanding of clean code, version control, code reviews, testing, and automation.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Knowledge of machine learning concepts and tools.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
