Senior Data Engineer - Accelerator Capacity Engineering (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer - Accelerator Capacity Engineering to join our innovative team at Anthropic. This remote role offers the opportunity to work with one of the largest and fastest-growing accelerator fleets in the industry. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that every chip in our fleet is accounted for, well-utilized, and efficiently allocated.

What You'll Do

• Build and operate data pipelines that ingest accelerator occupancy, utilization, and cost data from multiple cloud providers into BigQuery.
• Own data completeness, latency SLOs, gap detection, and backfill automation.
• Develop and maintain observability infrastructure using Prometheus and Grafana to surface actionable signals about fleet health.
• Instrument and analyze compute efficiency metrics across training, inference, and evaluation workloads.
• Collaborate with research engineering, infrastructure, inference, and finance teams to gather requirements and translate them into useful systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record building and operating production systems.
• Fluency in Kubernetes at operational depth, with experience managing cluster-level issues.
• Experience in data pipeline engineering, including designing, building, and owning the full lifecycle of production data pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with a focus on writing idiomatic, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) at the infrastructure level.

Nice to Have

• Multi-cloud data ingestion experience, especially with AWS and GCP APIs.
• Experience with performance engineering and benchmarking.
• Familiarity with ClickHouse, Terraform, or Rust.
