About the Role

At UpCloud, we are looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer remote to join our dedicated team. You will be instrumental in building our data infrastructure, ensuring it supports our strategic business areas. This role is perfect for someone passionate about data and eager to make a significant impact in a fast-growing cloud environment.

What You'll Do

  • Dedicate approximately 60% of your time to programming, focusing on building our data platform and developing ETL processes.
  • Manage Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) to ensure our data formation is robust and reliable.
  • Spend around 30% of your time as a Data Analyst, transforming business questions from various departments into actionable data models.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure they have the data necessary to drive UpCloud’s growth.
  • Organize and take ownership of our in-house systems to enhance data accessibility and usability for all users.

Requirements

  • Relevant software engineering experience with strong skills in Python and SQL.
  • Advanced experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly BigQuery, and familiarity with other cloud data environments.
  • Strong background in data analysis architecture and managing DAGs using tools like Airflow and dbt.
  • A "Builder" mindset, capable of creating efficient data structures from scratch.
  • Excellent communication skills to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • A background as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Data Analyst transitioning into business-centric roles.
  • Previous experience in small data teams with a hands-on approach.
