Senior Applied Data Scientist - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Applied Data Scientist to join our team at dunnhumby, a global leader in Customer Data Science. This Senior Applied Data Scientist remote position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in machine learning and data analysis to drive impactful solutions for our clients. You will work closely with a talented team of over 30 Applied Data Scientists, focusing on enhancing personalization propositions for Tesco UK.

What You'll Do

• Lead and deliver complex data science projects from inception to execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Utilize advanced data science techniques to analyze large-scale datasets and provide actionable insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the Tesco Personalisation team, to implement scalable solutions.
• Design and evaluate controlled experiments (A/B and multi-cell tests) to assess the effectiveness of data-driven strategies.
• Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a data scientist, with a strong portfolio of projects demonstrating your ability to solve real-world business problems.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; familiarity with PySpark is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale transactional datasets, ideally with millions of rows.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new data science techniques.
• A degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of the UK retail or consumer goods industry.
• Experience with statistical modeling and data visualization tools.
