Senior AI Engineer - Core Engine Development

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our team at JetBrains, where you will help shape the future of coding with AI tools. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing agentic tools that enhance coding experiences. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while contributing to innovative projects that impact developers worldwide.

What You'll Do

• Translate product needs into agentic tools and services, ensuring they are shipped to production effectively.
• Scale prototypes to accommodate a large user base, enhancing accessibility and usability.
• Improve and test our semantic search service to provide deeper insights and faster responses.
• Build evaluation pipelines for code retrieval and coding task performance, ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing products.

Requirements

• At least five years of hands-on experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP).
• Strong background in information retrieval systems and experience with LLM prompt and tool engineering.
• Solid programming skills in Python and/or Kotlin, with a willingness to learn new languages.
• Experience in building and operating production-grade software systems.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing in Kotlin or Java.
• Prior work with code intelligence tools such as AST and symbol graphs.
