Senior AI Architect - EdgeAI Systems & Algorithms

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior AI Architect (Systems & Algorithms) remote to lead the development of energy-efficient EdgeAI system architectures for robotics, drones, humanoids, and automotive systems. At imec Netherlands, you will join a world-leading team renowned for pioneering innovations in implantable therapeutics, medical devices, and ultra-low-power IoT devices.

What You'll Do

• Design and deploy EdgeAI algorithms and system architectures for constrained platforms, focusing on emerging models such as transformers and spiking neural networks.
• Drive dataflow, memory, and hardware/software co-design in collaboration with IC, sensor, and system teams.
• Build end-to-end demonstrators, contributing to research and EU projects.
• Contribute to system and chip-level design, including dataflow definition and workload mapping.
• Lead project proposals for national and EU funding, executing approved projects effectively.

Requirements

• PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in AI research and development.
• Strong background in AI algorithms for Edge or embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with programming and deploying models using frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience in AI system architecture or accelerator design.
• Familiarity with FPGA/ASIC flows and memory-centric architectures.
• Experience with high-level design and modeling tools.
