Senior Accountant - Remote Role for Australian Clients

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant - Remote to join our dynamic team at Hammerjack. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining essential accounting records for our Australian clients. Your day-to-day activities will include recording transactions, managing accounts, and ensuring compliance with Australian taxation laws. This is an exciting opportunity to work remotely while contributing to the financial health of our clients.

What You'll Do

  • Perform Xero account coding and bank reconciliation.
  • Manage prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset coding.
  • Handle client invoicing and debtor chasing of overdue invoices.
  • Process supplier invoices and conduct twice-monthly supplier/expense payment runs.
  • Prepare BAS, IAS, and payroll tax returns.
  • Manage monthly payroll, including adding new staff and processing bonuses and benefits.
  • Conduct end-of-year payroll reporting and tax year reconciliations for BAS/PAYE.
  • Monitor revenue and staff numbers to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements.
  • Prepare management accounts and forecasts, including cash flow analysis.
  • Collaborate with external tax accountants for tax return preparation.
  • Proactively identify potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate impacts.
  • Engage in project management tasks as required by the Team Manager or Service Delivery Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred.
  • 4-5 years of experience in Australian accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with accounting tools such as D365 is advantageous.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and ensure quality work.
