Research Engineer - Software Development Focus
About the Role
We are looking for a Research Engineer to join our team in London. This Research Engineer remote position focuses on software development and quantitative strategies, offering a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the financial sector.
What You'll Do
- Streamline existing processes and assist with the implementation of quantitative strategies.
- Efficiently process, store, and retrieve extensive amounts of market data.
- Maintain and improve our proprietary backtesting framework.
- Validate existing models and implement automated regression tests.
- Benchmark and improve the computational performance of research code.
- Thoroughly examine large volumes of post-execution data.
- Serve as the primary resource for software engineering challenges within the broader research team.
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a Research Engineer remote.
- Strong expertise in Python, Java, and SQL.
- Advanced problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Innovative thinking, creativity, and unwavering persistence.
- Strong motivation to automate and optimize processes.
- Willingness to navigate system constraints and challenge existing limits.
- Capability to construct comprehensive data analysis pipelines, including advanced statistics/machine learning concepts.
- Flexibility to work beyond standard hours when required.
- Experience in distributed/high-performance computing.
- A Master's or PhD degree in a highly quantitative discipline, such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, or engineering is highly desirable.
Nice to Have
- Experience in front office trading environments.
- Familiarity with automated regression testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of benchmarking methodologies.
