Remote Financial Analyst - Empower Indigenous Communities
About the Role
We are seeking a Remote Financial Analyst to join the Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA), a dedicated organization advocating for the rights and well-being of Indigenous women and girls. As a Remote Financial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in promoting leadership and empowering Indigenous communities through strategic fiscal management and program planning.
What You'll Do
- Provide financial analysis and advisory services to support ONWA's strategic planning and proposal submissions.
- Conduct risk management and expenditure management to ensure effective resource allocation.
- Collaborate with senior management to measure performance and develop evidence-based business strategies.
- Utilize financial accounting software and data modeling tools to prepare and present business cases and reports.
- Maintain relationships with local service agencies to enhance community engagement and support.
- Work flexible hours, including remote arrangements, to achieve a work-life balance.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and contribute to the organization's mission.
- Support Indigenous community initiatives through financial planning and analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in finance or a related area.
- Strong knowledge of government and non-profit sectors.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of GAAP accounting processes and ability to solve complex financial problems.
- Proficient in MS Office and general office equipment.
- A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are preferred.

- Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding their unique financial needs.
- Familiarity with grant writing and funding proposals.
- Knowledge of financial regulations affecting non-profit organizations.
