Quality Engineer for Kubernetes Operators - Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Quality Engineer for Kubernetes Operators to join our K8s Operators Team. This full-time remote position offers the opportunity to be an integral part of ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. As a Quality Engineer, you will work within a distributed engineering team, maintaining and improving the quality of our software products throughout the release process and beyond. Your role will involve analyzing and reporting defects captured by our automated testing frameworks, defining and implementing new test cases, and enhancing our testing capabilities and infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Build quality into the product from the outset for the Kubernetes Operators for relational and NoSQL databases.
• Focus on preventing design flaws in the early stages and on automatic testing in CI/CD at later stages.
• Evaluate and improve Percona Operator products and new features based on test plans, identifying product issues and bugs.
• Contribute to the DevOps and release management lifecycle, including coordinating, testing, and managing Operator releases.
• Collaborate with engineers and teams across the company to deploy and debug Kubernetes Operators, facilitating rapid integration and massive growth.
• Research and recommend tools, behaviors, and strategies for enhancing test and release processes.
• Actively participate in architecture/design collaboration to prevent faulty architecture decisions before code is written.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Kubernetes and experience in testing applications within containerized environments.
• Solid understanding of database systems, architecture, and performance, particularly in a cloud or Kubernetes context.
• Experience in designing and implementing automated test scripts for databases, preferably with knowledge of Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Proficiency in Linux and capability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Jenkins.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and familiarity with programming languages for test automation.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Experience working in an Agile environment, utilizing a test management tool for defect tracking and test management.
