PTC Systems Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a talented PTC Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at Wabtec Corporation. This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of Positive Train Control (PTC) systems, ensuring the safety and efficiency of rail operations. As a PTC Systems Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in preventing train-to-train collisions and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

What You'll Do

• Provide system-level technical guidance throughout all phases of PTC application product development, including requirements definition, safety assessment, software development, testing, validation, and commissioning.
• Specify detailed system requirements, behavioral models, and interface definitions.
• Participate in requirement and design reviews with customers and development teams.
• Verify pass/fail criteria for critical functions and tests as specified by the validation team.
• Support interworking between PTC and other products, driving technical issues to resolution.
• Engage in hands-on troubleshooting and validation in both lab and field environments.
• Occasionally travel to locomotive builders and customer locations to provide system expertise and support.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic), Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Development or Systems Engineering with a focus on application software development, hardware, and/or testing.
• Proficiency with configuration management, requirements management, and defect tracking tools such as IBM ELM, DOORS Next, and SVN.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), UML, or SysML is a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
• Strong attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset.
• Knowledge of INCOSE or similar system engineering standards is advantageous.
• Railroad industry experience is a plus but not required.

• Experience with CENELEC standards.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
