About the Role

We’re hiring a Pet Welfare Assistant - Remote Support for Animal Care to join our dedicated team at Blue Cross. This role is crucial in ensuring the best care for pets in need, providing remote support while working primarily on-site at our Thirsk rehoming centre. As a Pet Welfare Assistant, you will play a vital role in our mission to give every pet the love and attention they deserve.

What You'll Do

• Assist in the preparation and care of pets, ensuring their welfare standards are met.
• Conduct assessments and rehabilitation plans for pets in our care.
• Collaborate with the Adoptions Coordinator to provide advice and practical demonstrations to new pet owners.
• Record and manage documentation related to pet care and owner interactions.
• Participate in meetings with pet owners to gather information and assess pets for behavioral or veterinary issues.

Requirements

• Experience working or volunteering with domestic animals or in an animal welfare environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Current full driving license for transporting pets.
• Basic knowledge of animal behavior and welfare standards.

Nice to Have

• Qualification in animal behavior or training.
• Experience in cash handling and customer service.
• Familiarity with health and safety procedures.
