Patient Services Representative - Front Office Support
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Patient Services Representative (remote) to join our dedicated team at Flagstaff Bone and Joint. This role is essential in providing front-end service and scheduling assistance to our patients. As a Patient Services Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring they receive the highest level of service in our busy orthopedic practice.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a vital member of the FBJ team, creating a positive first impression for patients.
- Utilize your knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes to assist patients effectively.
- Handle a high volume of phone calls, answering inquiries and scheduling appointments for a multi-provider practice.
- Cross-train in front office reception duties, including greeting patients and managing check-ins and check-outs.
- Monitor provider schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency in patient flow.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as processing referrals and managing medical records.
- Engage in on-the-job training to enhance your skills and knowledge in the healthcare field.
- Maintain a patient-centered approach in all interactions, ensuring a supportive environment for patients.
Requirements
- General understanding of outpatient services and patient flow.
- Experience in a medical office or healthcare reception role is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle a high volume of phone calls.
- Strong teamwork attitude and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with a positive personality, capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, including eligibility and referral requirements.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and Windows-based programs.
- Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and medical terminology.
