About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Orthopedic Physician Complex Coder to join our team at Banner Health. This remote position offers the opportunity to work with one of the largest nonprofit healthcare systems in the United States, recognized for its commitment to innovative healthcare advancements and excellent patient care. As an Orthopedic Physician Complex Coder, you will play a crucial role in coding surgical procedures and hospital E&M coding for the orthopedic department, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.

What You'll Do

• Code surgical procedures and hospital E&M coding specifically for the orthopedic department.
• Analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and compliance with regulations.
• Work independently in a remote setting while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Utilize specialized knowledge in ICD and CPT coding principles to enhance healthcare delivery.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate coding practices.
• Stay updated on coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with specialized training in medical record keeping.
• Active certification as CPC, CCS, or similar from recognized associations.
• A minimum of three years of complex professional coding experience in surgical orthopedic coding.
• Understanding of ICD and CPT coding principles is essential.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate coding and compliance.
• Preferred: Specialty Certification in Radiology Coding.
• Experience in a multi-system physician practice is preferred.

Nice to Have

• Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
• Ability to mentor junior coders.
