Project Accountant II - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Project Accountant II to join our team in a fully remote capacity. As a Project Accountant II, you will play a vital role in supporting federal contracting subsidiaries with project-based activities. This position is essential for ensuring project accuracy and compliance, making it a key part of our financial operations.

What You'll Do

• Support project setup, planning, analysis, and closeout activities.
• Collaborate with leadership and project managers to prepare comprehensive reports and analyses.
• Process payroll in accordance with project costing requirements.
• Track project status to ensure execution and compliance with contractual obligations.
• Manage contractual risks and maintain necessary documentation.
• Assist in the financial aspects of project close-out, ensuring all financial records are accurate and complete.
• Review subcontractor payment applications for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare final statements and analyze project accounting metrics to provide insights to management.
• Manage vendor setups and monitor project statuses effectively.
• Review progress billing and coordinate collections to ensure timely payments.
• Perform additional accounting tasks as assigned to support the finance team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
• 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in project accounting.
• Experience in construction accounting is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent relationship-building skills with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice to Have

• Experience with federal contracting projects.
• Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Certifications such as CPA or CMA.
