Navigation Engineer - Remote Opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Navigation Engineer to join our innovative team at Sandia National Laboratories. This Navigation Engineer remote position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects that contribute to national security and technology innovation. As a Navigation Engineer, you will engage in significant research and development efforts focused on estimation, software engineering, and applied R&D for national security missions.

What You'll Do

• Develop, integrate, test, and analyze results from hardware prototype navigation systems, including GNSS and inertial sensors.
• Create novel alternative positioning sensors and navigation solutions for complex national security mission spaces.
• Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to mature innovative navigation technologies from concept to flight tests.
• Transition alternative PNT technologies from modeling and simulation to hardware prototype for flight test experimentation.
• Conduct testing in contested navigation warfare environments and analyze results to support national security missions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in software engineering and/or stochastic estimation for dynamic systems.
• Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB®, Simulink®, Python, and C/C++.
• 1+ years of experience with modern navigation systems, including GNSS architectures and sensor fusion.

Nice to Have

• Graduate degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in applied aerodynamics and flight mechanics.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
