Mill Electrician - Remote Opportunity at Kinross Gold

About the Role

We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Mill Electrician remote position at Kinross Gold. This role is essential for maintaining and optimizing electrical systems at our Kettle River Operations in Republic, Washington. As a Mill Electrician, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our mill and filter plant equipment, contributing to our commitment to responsible mining and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

• Perform troubleshooting and repair on low- and medium-voltage electrical systems in the Mill and Filter Plant.
• Maintain, repair, and replace motors, MCC components, VFDs, transformers, switchgear, lighting systems, and electrical panels.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on crushers, conveyors, pumps, thickeners, and other fixed process equipment.
• Assist with safe energization, lockout/tagout, and equipment isolation per site procedures.
• Review electrical drawings, schematics, one-lines, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and maintenance planning.
• Install, calibrate, test, and service electrical instruments and control systems.
• Support commissioning activities during restart phases, including equipment checks and system verification.
• Document work performed, parts used, and corrective actions in the CMMS.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• 5+ years of industrial, heavy industry, or mining electrical experience; instrumentation experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting capability on complex electrical systems and instrumentation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation layouts.
• Proficient in lockout/tagout, job hazard analysis, and safe electrical work practices.
• Effective communication and teamwork across maintenance, operations, and engineering groups.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous learning.

Nice to Have

• Experience with PLC/SCADA systems and industrial electronics.
• Computer literacy for CMMS updates and documentation.
• Ability to work in an industrial mining environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
