Gardener/​Caretaker - City of London Almshouses

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Gardener/Caretaker to join the City of London Almshouses. This role is crucial in maintaining safe and attractive grounds that enhance the living conditions for our residents. As a Gardener/Caretaker, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality gardening and grounds maintenance services, ensuring that communal areas are clean and welcoming. This is a full-time position based in the City of London, and you will be expected to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

What You'll Do

• Maintain the gardens and communal areas of the Almshouses to a high standard.
• Operate grounds maintenance equipment, including ride-on mowers, safely and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all gardening activities.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving equipment and materials.
• Work independently and manage your time effectively to meet the needs of the residents.

Requirements

• Experience in commercial or large domestic grounds maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of health and safety practices related to gardening.
• Experience operating ride-on mowers and handling gardening equipment.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in a caretaker role.
• Knowledge of horticulture and plant care.
• First aid certification.
