Mid-Level DevOps Engineer - Remote Position for VA Loan Service
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team in supporting the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Loan Guaranty Service. This remote DevOps Engineer role focuses on the automation, maintenance, and reliability of development and deployment pipelines, ensuring that our systems remain stable, secure, and compliant with VA OIT standards.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and support CI/CD pipelines used for LGY deployments across development, test, and production environments.
- Monitor pipeline health and troubleshoot deployment failures.
- Implement DevOps best practices to improve pipeline efficiency and reliability.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure applications are deployment-ready.
- Assist with environment troubleshooting and deployment diagnostics.
- Document DevOps processes, pipeline configurations, and operational procedures.
- Support continuous improvement of deployment automation and infrastructure reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of DevOps or infrastructure automation experience.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of version control systems (Git).
- Experience working in cloud environments.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting federal government IT programs or VA systems.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
- Experience with Salesforce deployments and release management processes.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with ServiceNow or Jira for change management.
- Knowledge of ITIL service management practices.
