Lead of Methods and Engineering for SSH - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a Lead of Methods and Engineering for SSH to join the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in a remote capacity. This role is pivotal in leading our Computational Social Science and Humanities Lab, focusing on integrating high-performance computing (HPC) with social sciences and humanities research. You will have the opportunity to influence significant research projects and drive innovation in AI and data methodologies.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the Methods and Engineering group for SSH, ensuring alignment with institutional strategies.
- Oversee technical support for research projects, emphasizing best practices in data management and AI workflows.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) to identify and meet technical and methodological needs.
- Translate research priorities into structured technical roadmaps and actionable implementation plans.
- Develop scalable frameworks and service models to provide sustainable AI and computational resources.
- Design and implement operational processes to enhance coordination among researchers and engineers.
- Support recruitment processes and contribute to team development initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and innovation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computational Social Sciences, Computational Humanities, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience leading interdisciplinary teams in demanding environments.
- Extensive project management experience in research and technology sectors.
- Proven ability to build and structure interdisciplinary teams effectively.
- Solid understanding of software engineering and data workflows.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Spanish or other European languages is advantageous.
Nice to Have
- Experience in monitoring proposals and overseeing research staff development.
- Familiarity with AI/ML models and high-performance computing environments.
- Experience coordinating computational projects in the social sciences and humanities.
