IT Specialist (Systems Administration) - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Specialist (Systems Administration) to join our team remotely. In this role, you will administer multiple information systems running Microsoft Windows operating systems and server platforms. As an IT Specialist (Systems Administration), you will ensure the functionality, integrity, and efficiency of all server operating systems, distributed applications, and electronic messaging systems.

What You'll Do

• Administer and maintain system configurations, install and integrate system patches, updates, and enhancements, and document all system baselines and modifications to production systems.
• Apply information security and information assurance policies, principles, and practices rigorously to protect system integrity.
• Review, test, analyze, and select new or proposed software packages, recommending applications for installation.
• Coordinate the installation of new equipment and the movement or reinstallation of existing equipment.
• Manage engineering projects for voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) initiatives, plan technology roadmaps, and configure and optimize VoIP and private branch exchange telephone systems and services.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Services in providing technical support, implementation expertise, and system administration for multiple information systems in both LAN and WAN environments.
• Experience performing a full range of systems administration duties including installation, configuration, testing, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
• Account and access management, system security, and information assurance experience.
• Workstation and application support experience, and specialized administration of VoIP/IP telephone and telework solutions.
• Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server platforms.
