IT and Security Operations Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking an IT and Security Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team at UpGuard. This role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States. As an IT and Security Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our IT operations and security measures, contributing to our mission of redefining how organizations manage cyber risk.

What You'll Do

  • Run daily, weekly, and periodic IT and security checklists to ensure operational excellence.
  • Troubleshoot issues, document fixes, and raise follow-up actions as needed.
  • Perform health checks across infrastructure and DevOps, focusing on uptime, CI/CD, compliance, and alerts.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and InfraOps on platform-level issues to enhance system performance.
  • Monitor and action items in the IT support queue with a proactive approach, delivering empathetic, solutions-oriented support.
  • Identify and propose improvements as you gain business context, working cross-functionally to implement automation and tooling enhancements.
  • Contribute to scripts, dashboards, and operational improvements that drive efficiency.
  • Engage in project work that feeds insights from day-to-day operations into long-term strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of identity and access management, including SSO/MFA, SCIM, and RBAC concepts.
  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code automation platforms like Zapier or N8N.
  • Experience managing and integrating enterprise SaaS applications in a high-growth or security-conscious environment.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or a willingness to learn.
  • Hands-on experience supporting and managing laptop fleets, particularly macOS and ChromeOS.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace.
  • Experience with Okta for identity management.
