About the Role

We are seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer to join our innovative team at EQL Tech. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity and reliability of our financial systems. Your expertise will help us build the technical backbone that supports our mission of providing families access to education funds.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement a robust money movement flow, ensuring transaction lifecycle management and idempotency.
  • Build reliable reconciliation processes to maintain alignment between internal ledgers and external banking events.
  • Minimize operational risks by creating guardrails that prevent errors such as double-spending and inconsistent balances.
  • Own the architecture of our payment systems, including a multi-service monorepo and an event-driven pipeline.
  • Ensure ledger integrity by developing automated health checks and reconciliation systems that catch discrepancies in real-time.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to correctness in financial transactions.
  • Experience with card issuing infrastructure and banking systems, particularly with tools like Lithic, Column, or Stripe Issuing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an in-person environment in San Francisco, CA, or Phoenix, AZ.
  • Experience in building systems that are resilient to real-world unpredictability.
  • Willingness to take ownership of the financial systems and ensure their reliability.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with AI and computer vision technologies.
  • Previous experience in a startup environment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements.
