About the Role

We are seeking a Head of Data, Machine Learning & Analytics to join our innovative team at Village Farms International, a leader in sustainable agriculture and plant-based products. This remote role is pivotal in shaping our enterprise data strategy and driving machine learning initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and stakeholder value.

What You'll Do

  • Define and own the enterprise data strategy and architecture, ensuring alignment with technology and sustainability goals.
  • Lead the development of the enterprise data platform using Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse, integrating core systems and external data sources.
  • Drive data modeling, master/metadata management, and data quality across the data lifecycle.
  • Institutionalize enterprise reporting and self-service analytics, standardizing dashboards in Power BI.
  • Build a pragmatic machine learning portfolio focused on measurable outcomes such as yield optimization and demand forecasting.
  • Establish model governance and MLOps practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Oversee data platform engineering and integrations to ensure performance and cost efficiency.
  • Recruit and develop a high-performing team, fostering partnerships across Technology, Operations, and Finance.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in data/analytics leadership, with 5+ years in building enterprise data platforms.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure Synapse and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated success in establishing data governance and quality frameworks.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Industry experience in agriculture, CPG, or sustainability is preferred.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform to extend analytics into workflows.
  • Exposure to ESG reporting and sustainability analytics.
