About the Role

We are seeking a Grid Strategy & Access Lead to join our team at terralayr, a pioneering company addressing the global energy storage deficit. As a Grid Strategy & Access Lead remote position, you will play a critical role in optimizing grid access and ensuring the successful deployment of our battery energy storage systems (BESS). Your expertise will bridge the gap between power system physics and commercial execution, making a significant impact on the energy transition.

What You'll Do

  • Secure and optimize grid access throughout the project lifecycle, identifying strategic "white spots" for energy storage deployment.
  • Conduct sophisticated load flow analyses and simulate grid conditions to create a technical "source of truth" for site selection.
  • Lead the technical grid connection process for utility-scale BESS, ensuring seamless integration into medium and high-voltage networks.
  • Scout for new connection opportunities and manage the conversion of leads into secured capacity through structured follow-ups and negotiations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for DSOs/TSOs, leading data-driven discussions and negotiations to drive favorable outcomes.
  • Master grid connection requirements and TSO/DSO processes to navigate bottlenecks and accelerate project timelines.
  • Translate technical grid constraints into revenue impacts, supporting commercial teams with insights on ancillary services.
  • Collaborate closely with Development, Delivery, and Commercial teams to ensure analyses result in tangible hardware implementations.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of professional experience in a utility, TSO/DSO, or renewable energy development, with a focus on BESS or large-scale grid integration.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in grid simulation software and a deep understanding of the German regulatory framework.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward execution and the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
  • Fluency in German is essential for leading negotiations with grid operators.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in stakeholder management and regulatory navigation.
  • Familiarity with commercial synergy and revenue impact analysis.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
