Full-Time Faculty Member - Fashion Design (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Faculty Member in Fashion Design to join our team at the Fashion Institute of Technology. This role offers a unique opportunity to teach and inspire the next generation of fashion designers while working remotely. As a Faculty Member in Fashion Design, you will leverage your industry experience and creativity to shape the curriculum and engage students in innovative learning experiences.
What You'll Do
- Teach core foundational courses in the AAS Fashion Design program, utilizing both traditional and innovative instructional methods.
- Develop and deliver engaging course materials that incorporate current industry best practices and emerging technologies in fashion design.
- Mentor students in their creative processes, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Contribute to curriculum development and participate in administrative duties as required by the School of Art and Design.
- Engage in scholarly and creative work relevant to fashion design, including research in sustainability and inclusive design.
- Participate in departmental initiatives and collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience.
- Utilize technology and electronic information to deliver course materials effectively to diverse learners.
- Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining currency in technological skills and knowledge relevant to fashion design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience as a senior-level fashion designer.
- Preferred qualifications include 10+ years of experience and prior teaching experience.
- Master's degree in Fashion Design or a related field is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in fashion illustration techniques and the ability to produce original design sketches.
- Demonstrated understanding of market trends and the ability to communicate their implications to students.
- Experience with instructional design methodologies that accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Passion for learning and the ability to inspire creativity in students.
Nice to Have
- Experience in developing or teaching a curriculum that addresses diversity in design.
- Engagement in industry competitions, exhibitions, publications, and/or awards.
- Research ability in sustainability or inclusive design.
