Founding Machine Learning Scientist - Molecular AI

About the Role

We are seeking a Founding Machine Learning Scientist to join our innovative team at Novogaia. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely and play a pivotal role in developing advanced computational systems for discovering and developing small molecule medicines from fungi. As a founding member, you will have significant autonomy and technical responsibility in shaping the future of our molecular AI initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of the next generation of our molecular foundation model for mass spectrometry.
• Design and train models for mass spectra to molecular structure inference.
• Develop latent molecular representations from MS/MS and related data.
• Extend structure predictions into downstream molecular reasoning, including bioactivity and prioritization.
• Collaborate closely with computational biology and experimental teams to drive research forward.

Requirements

• Experience developing and training machine learning models in PyTorch or similar frameworks.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python, with a focus on writing clean, production-quality code.
• Ability to independently scope and execute research problems involving large, high-dimensional datasets.
• Experience training models at scale in cloud or HPC environments.
• Familiarity with generative models and geometric deep learning techniques.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with molecular, chemical, or spectral datasets.
• Knowledge of metabolomics or mass spectrometry workflows and computational models.
