About the Role

We are seeking a talented Founding Engineer to join our innovative team and help us build the operating system for the restaurants of the future. This Founding Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to work with a profitable, Tier 1 VC-backed startup, where you will play a crucial role in automating the legacy restaurant industry and reducing manual labor to zero.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with a small, dedicated team to develop and maintain a core product that powers over 400 independent restaurants.
• Utilize your deep understanding of Typescript in both front-end and back-end development to deliver high-quality software.
• Implement software design patterns and ensure the reliability of production-level software.
• Work with cloud providers to manage live production workloads effectively.
• Design relational databases, write queries, and implement changes without downtime.
• Leverage the latest tools, including AI and computer vision, to enhance restaurant workflows.
• Contribute to a fast-paced environment by turning messy problems into working software within a week.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in shipping and maintaining production-level software.
• Strong proficiency in Typescript and backend development.
• Experience with cloud services and managing production workloads.
• Ability to design and implement relational databases.
• A product-focused mindset, considering product, customer, and code simultaneously.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
• Familiarity with AI and computer vision technologies.
