Founding Director of Engineering - Remote Opportunity in India

About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Founding Director of Engineering to lead our engineering efforts in India. This is a unique opportunity to join Alpaca, a US-headquartered self-clearing broker-dealer and brokerage infrastructure company, and make a significant impact in the financial services sector. What You'll Do

• Establish and lead Alpaca's engineering presence in India, building a world-class engineering organization from the ground up.
• Architect critical financial infrastructure and shape the technical strategy for Alpaca in one of the world's largest financial markets.
• Serve as the strategic technical leader for India operations, balancing high-level strategic planning with operational oversight.
• Guide transformational technical initiatives that span multiple divisions, ensuring alignment with Alpaca's mission.
• Act as a key liaison between teams and executive leadership, facilitating communication and influencing strategic direction.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering, particularly in the financial services or technology sectors.
• Exceptional technical depth combined with strategic vision, capable of guiding complex technical initiatives.
• Strong communication skills to engage with senior leadership and influence organizational culture.
• Experience in building and managing high-performing teams in a remote work environment.
• Passion for open-source contributions and enhancing developer-friendly APIs.
