MongoDB DBA - Remote Position at Percona

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled MongoDB DBA remote to join our Managed Services department at Percona. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our customers' MongoDB databases operate smoothly, which is crucial for their business success. With 24/7 support from world-class DBAs, we deliver high-quality service to Percona customers globally. In this role, you will be responsible for managing incidents, executing complex projects, and providing proactive recommendations for improvements in customer environments.

What You'll Do

• Participate in the management and operations of customer’s MongoDB deployments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database availability and performance.
• Plan, schedule, and perform technical tasks to deliver the best solutions on time.
• Deliver proactive tasks to improve the stability, performance, and fault tolerance of customer environments.
• Engage in advanced performance tuning, including optimizing queries, indexing, and storage.
• Implement security best practices (RBAC, encryption, auditing).
• Proactively manage capacity planning, ensuring appropriate server sizing in anticipation of growth requirements.
• Collaborate with backend, platform, infrastructure, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to develop automation and monitoring tools.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with MongoDB technology, ideally in a customer-facing role, or 5+ years of experience with distributed software administration.
• Strong knowledge of backup & recovery strategies and MongoDB’s storage engine, replication, sharding, and indexing.
• Experience managing MongoDB environments across various infrastructures, including on-premise and major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Familiarity with Percona tools, such as Percona Monitoring and Management and Percona Backup for MongoDB, is a plus.
• Strong written communication skills in English and the ability to write clear technical reports.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

• Experience with MongoDB Atlas and Cloud Manager.
• Proficient in Linux environments (RedHat and Debian).
• Experience with at least one major programming language (e.g., PHP, Java, Node.js, Go, Python, Ruby).
