Forward Deployed Engineer - Remote with Travel

About the Role

We are seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our dynamic team at Reval. This remote position involves significant travel, as you will work closely with our portfolio companies. You will be part of a growth-focused private equity investment firm that emphasizes hands-on product and engineering transformation.

What You'll Do

  • Embed with portfolio product and engineering teams to build end-to-end features across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure—shipping production-grade software with testing, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Modernize legacy products into AI-first architectures by prototyping quickly (days), validating the highest-impact use cases, and scaling prototypes into maintainable systems.
  • Shape and accelerate AI adoption across the portfolio by scouting and benchmarking new AI tools/frameworks, curating reusable components, and training teams via pairing, code reviews, playbooks, and workshops.
  • Collaborate with CPOs and CTOs to identify AI-native product opportunities and refactor legacy systems into AI-first architectures.
  • Engage in meaningful on-site time with portfolio companies, committing access to production repositories and focusing on shipping in weeks.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a full-stack builder with strong product judgment.
  • Experience with AI-assisted IDE workflows and integrating LLM APIs.
  • Ability to operate across multiple companies with high autonomy.
  • Comfortable modernizing legacy systems incrementally without breaking production.
  • Willingness to travel significantly and spend meaningful time on-site with portfolio companies.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with AI tools and frameworks.
  • Experience in training teams through workshops and code reviews.
  • Knowledge of workflow automation and predictive product features.
