About the Role

Join Vonage as an Engineering Manager and help us innovate cloud communications for businesses worldwide! This Engineering Manager remote position is crucial for our mission to connect the world through technology. You will lead a talented team of engineers, tackling complex challenges associated with high-performance distributed systems and processing large volumes of data in real-time.

What You'll Do

• Build systems to add features across our messaging platform, which operates on Kubernetes and Nomad in AWS.
• Provide direction to a team of software engineers, creating scalable microservices that will support our impressive growth.
• Collaborate with product managers and customers to understand use cases and business requirements.
• Lead team members in the planning and delivery of product/solution releases.
• Assign, manage, and perform project work, including scope, schedule, resource allocation, and cost estimation.
• Ensure delivery of secure, high-quality, well-tested, and scalable software to meet customer and business requirements.
• Assist with maintenance and prioritization of the product development backlog.
• Ensure team activities align with and support broader organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

• Engineering leadership skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Excellent practical understanding of high performance, highly distributed computing.
• Strong focus on testing.
• Software engineering skills in Java.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to present complex technical information clearly to a wide variety of audiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of Docker and container orchestration.
