Engineering Manager - Enterprise Security (Remote)
About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Manager - Enterprise Security to join our team at Kraken, a leading company in the crypto space. As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building enterprise-grade security features for our largest clients and the Payward portfolio. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while leading a talented team of engineers dedicated to enhancing security across our products.
What You'll Do
- Lead an engineering team focused on developing client-facing enterprise security features for Kraken’s largest clients.
- Design and implement libraries and microservices using Rust to enhance security functionalities.
- Deliver integrations for bring-your-own IdP and modern enterprise authentication flows.
- Build provisioning and access automation capabilities integrated with the organizations and permissioning stack.
- Establish high-quality engineering standards and lead complex systems development using advanced AI tools.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Security, SRE, and stakeholder teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on security-sensitive backend systems.
- 2+ years of hands-on engineering management experience, leading a team of 4-8 engineers.
- Proficiency in Rust, with direct experience in production environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise security and identity standards, including SSO and multi-tenant backend systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
Nice to Have
- Experience building or operating IdP integrations at scale, including enterprise SSO deployments (Okta, Auth0, Microsoft Entra ID).
- Knowledge of provisioning automation standards (e.g., SCIM) and security event pipelines.
- Experience designing scalable permissioning models (RBAC/ABAC/PBAC) and implementing least-privilege programs.
