About the Role

We are seeking a Documentation & Technical Writing Manager - Remote to join our dynamic team at Grafana Labs. As a leader in the open-source community, you will play a crucial role in advocating for developers and enhancing user success through effective communication and technical support. This remote position allows you to work from anywhere in the USA, specifically targeting candidates in the EST timezone.

What You'll Do

• Manage a team of Technical Writers developing documentation for developer audiences.
• Collaborate with engineering and other internal and external groups to ensure comprehensive documentation.
• Drive improvements in documentation processes and content strategy.
• Establish best practices within the technical writing team to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Support a transparent project management process to foster team collaboration.
• Promote work-life balance while managing conflicting priorities effectively.
• Engage with an international team, focusing on results and outcomes.
• Advocate for the technical writing discipline with stakeholders to elevate its importance within the organization.

Requirements

• Experience leading and writing developer documentation.
• Ability to quickly understand organizational needs and adapt documentation accordingly.
• Proven experience managing remote teams across global time zones.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience working with the open-source community and understanding its dynamics.
• Player/coach mentality for team engagement and motivation.
• Experience in prioritizing documentation efforts based on project needs.
• Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders to facilitate collaboration.
• Proficient in using project management tools and understanding technical writing best practices.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with docs-as-code methodologies.
• Experience with Markdown, Git, and other documentation tools.
• Background in software development or engineering.
