Director of Software Engineering - Remote Position

About the Role

We’re looking for a Director of Software Engineering to join our innovative team at Blue River Technology. As a Director of Software Engineering remote, you will lead the charge in creating intelligent machinery that addresses significant challenges in agriculture and construction. Your mission is to drive additional value for our customers while scaling the reach of our technology across diverse crops, continents, and climates.

What You'll Do

• Architect and enhance our software architecture to support tens of thousands of machines operating simultaneously.
• Champion robust simulation environments and Hardware/Software-in-the-loop (HIL and SIL) testing to ensure code readiness.
• Collaborate with Product Management to balance rapid feature delivery with long-term architectural health.
• Recruit, mentor, and scale a world-class software engineering organization, fostering a culture of empowerment and continuous improvement.
• Represent our technical vision at conferences and recruiting events, advocating for our See & Spray mission.

Requirements

• 12+ years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in technical team management.
• Proven experience managing large-scale, complex distributed systems, ideally involving hardware and robotics.
• Deep familiarity with C, C++, Python, Linux-based computing, and AI/ML architecture fundamentals.
• Excellent communication skills to distill complex challenges into actionable narratives for stakeholders.
• A passion for building software that engineers love to work on and a strategic approach to managing technical debt.

Nice to Have

• Experience developing on ARM-based NVIDIA platforms.
• Proven experience managing geographically distributed teams.
• Startup experience.

What We Offer

• Competitive salary range of $200,000 - $352,000, along with eligibility for bonuses and benefits.
